2012 Best Ranger Competition Icebreaker Changes Venues

The National Ranger Association announced that the location of the 2012 Best Ranger Competition Icebreaker will be moved to Chattahoochee Harley Davidson on Williams Road. The Association searched for a venue that would maintain the spirit of camaraderie while providing ample space to host a larger number of people. A ticket will be required to attend the icebreaker. Tickets will be distributed in March 2012.

The M4 shoot had a tie among the following teams: #2, 3, 6, 23, 28, 33 & 37 with 149 of 150 points available.

The Day Stakes winner was Team #20 – WL Gore and Associates with 143 of 150 points available.

The winner of Malvesti Obstacle Course was Team #28 – TIC Federal Credit Union with a perfect score of 150 out of 150.

Petraeus speaks at ceremony honoring Best Ranger winners

Gen. David Petraeus, commander of U.S. Central Command, was the guest speaker at Monday’s closing ceremony for the 27th Annual Lt. Gen. David E. Grange Best Ranger Competition.

“What you have accomplished here at Fort Benning these last few days is simply mind-boggling to the average person, even to the average very fit person,” Petraeus said, speaking to those competitors who made it through to the finish. “Just qualifying to compete in the Best Ranger Competition is a great achievement, but finishing it is a truly remarkable accomplishment.”

Forty teams began the competition Friday. Twenty-five managed to cross the finish line Sunday. Winning the competition were Master Sgts. Eric Ross and Eric Turk of U.S. Special Operations Command.

Expanding the popularity of the Competition into the Social Media stream, our Facebook Fan page has surpassed 1000 fans in the short time that we’ve had it online.

Our intent with the site is to keep all fans of the Competition updated on any changes throughout the year as well as to share photos and videos (and eventually updated scoring) so that those not in attendance can track the progress of their favorite teams.
